Project: Development & Social Work


Start dates: Dates are flexible ( Usually a day or two after your arrival)

Location: Accra in Ghana, West Africa

Arrival and Departure: Accra, Ghana ( Kotoka International Airport )

Project Duration: 2 Weeks or More

Language Need: Fluency in English

Accommodation: Private Housing accommodation

Activities: This project involves assisting in social works and development projects adding to it your knowledge on the best ways to get things done.

Working hours: 20-35 hours per week


Role of Development & Social Work Volunteer / Intern

As a volunteer or intern in veterinary in Ghana project, you will work for 4-6 hours a day and 20-30 hours a week. This project involves assisting in social works and development projects adding to it your knowledge on the best ways to get things done.

Skills / Qualification Required in Development & Social Work Projects

There are no specific qualifications needed to join the project in Ghana project beyond a fluency in English, but your understanding of Ghanaian culture and language can help improve the experience for you . No previous experience is required. Volunteers should be enthusiastic, reliable, flexible, patient and be positive role models.

All Our volunteer projects are located in and around cities. Ghana is a land of cultural diversity and contrast.

About Ghana

English is the official language, but most people speak several languages as well. Ghanaians speak over 40 languages throughout its 10 regions.

The country's economy is dominated by agriculture, which employs about 40 percent of the working population. Ghana is one of the leading exporters of cocoa in the world. It is also a significant exporter of commodities such as gold and lumber.

The traditional cloth of the Ghanaian people is the bright and colorful kente cloth. In the north, the men wear loose flowing clothes made of darker cloth.

Start Dates

Our Projects are available all year round, the start date is usually a day or two after your arrival at the Accra, Ghana (Kotoka International Airport).

We pick you up from the airport and send you to the housing facility, we then start with the orientation to get you accustomed to the ways things are done around here and give you all you need to make the project successful.

Arrival & Departure

On the day of arrival , we will pick you up from the airport arrival hall.

A staff member will be at the arrival holding up a placard with your name on it, waiting to drive you to the housing facility where we will start the orientation.

Your volunteer/internship project starts a day or two after your arrival here in Ghana.

We will drive you to the airport on the day of departure as well after the internship.

Safety and Security

Apart from the country Ghana being a very peaceful and stable country, we take security very seriously and make sure you are always safe and secured both at home and the location where you will be interning or volunteering.

Prices

The cost is calculated by time spent here in Ghana doing the internship or volunteer project. So we start with the first 2 weeks cost shown below in the table and then every additional week also attracts a cost:

  • Feeding ( From previous experience we have found it difficult to have a feeding program because of commuting by intern to internship organization and back to the accommodation, so we help you with options for break fast, lunch and dinner. Like going to shop for breakfast items, etc.
  • Personal expenses like clothings, drinks including bottled water,gifts etc.
  • Data credit for internet

      Other Volunteer and Intern Projects in Ghana - Available all year round
    Assist in Teach subjects such as english, mathematics , science and other topics that you are knowledgeable about and feel you can make an impact with.
    Assist children in days cares or nursery with learning tools, games and techniques to improve their education process.
    This involves clinics and hospitals where you will be assisting in various departments to learn the local procedures and also add your input.
    Assist in veterinary clinic lab activities and other works necessary on a daily basis.
    This are health awareness and screening projects that help inform communities on certain best health practices. You are free to choose your topic or subject.
    Nursing and Midwifery projects that involve assisting in the treatment of certain health conditions of patients and daily medical routines.
    Assist Human Right advocates and lawyers in addressing human right issues such as abuse, child labor etc.
    Work with local lawyers on cases and facts finding. Adding your input and resolving cases presented
    This involves working with fashion houses on their fabrics and textiles, coming up with fresh and new designs, learning the local designs and introducing yours as well.
    There are children that need special care and education due to disability, in this project you will help with their education process and teach them a thing or two.
    This involves working with local architects on their projects and also teaching them a few thing you know whiles learning from them.
    Work with TV, radio or newspaper journalists or technical people to get hands on knowledge on how things are done around here.
    Work with Movie, Radio and Television personalities and also technical people to learn how things are done here and also add your input.
    This involves assisting in social works and development projects adding to it your knowledge on the best ways to get things done.
    Working with some microfinance companies on ways to empower both the youth and women on job creation and business development.
    There are several sports in Ghana, so based on your interest you can join in the physical game activity or in the training of sports men and women.
    This involves helping startups and small business with knowledge and skills to move on to the next level.
    This involves training specific groups on vocations such as dress making, hair dressing, make up, and many more.
    This is about training people in information technology and ways to use it to solve daily problems faced by many in Ghana.
